Arsenal: Style, Substance and Cigarettes

After the International break Arsenal came back with style and grace to stay on top of the table.

With two goals from Mesut Ozil, a combination of skill and persistence from Aaron Ramsey and team brilliance to set up Jack Wilshere Arsenal cruised to a 4-1 win over Norwich.

No league games are ever easy but for the majority of this one, Arsenal were playing with style and class which is the Arsenal way under Arsene Wenger.

Many fans debated whether the first goal (posted below) was the best team goal under Wenger. I would say no, however, it was reminiscent of the best team Wenger produced, the Invincible Squad of the 2003/2004 season.

Because of the style, confidence and hunger to win games.

Saying this team is as good as that team of 2003/2004 would be fairly brave; however, the team do look like a force. Yes we are only in October but these results are not a fluke. The introduction of Ozil and adding Santi Carzola back into the mix makes the midfield set up interesting.

Ramsey, who arguably has been Arsenal’s best player this season, started on the bench, yet the line-up still looked strong and the bench looked capable of adding quality when needed.

This great depth creates competition within the team and will make the players play to their top ability. Every international manager will be watching, seeing that it is world cup season. No player wants to be on the bench because it could mean they miss out in being in the world cup squad for Brazil 2014.

Flamini could be bought back into the France squad with a great influence on the Arsenal team; Wilshere could lose his place in the England set up if he under performed at Arsenal. These are examples of what could happen, with the amount of quality midfielders at Arsenal. With all these factors the Arsenal team could benefit and continue to win.

Let’s not forget The OX, Podolski and 100k Walcott will be returning from injury and as it stands, they will be keeping the bench warm.

As for now we have a big line up of heavy games coming up and we will be able to see how the team reacts when facing the “bigger boys.”

But for now, give Wilshere a cigarette it seems like it helps (I Joke) and keep Moyes in a job.
